Jon Poulson grew up in the mean streets of Salt Lake City, Utah. No seriously, there were a few mean streets in Salt Lake City, and Jon always seemed to stumble onto them. From the age of about 15 Jon and his friends hung out at the only local tattoo shop, ASI Tattoos, getting tattoos before just about every hardcore show. After things started getting out of control, Jon decided to drop-out of this so called scene, leaving Salt Lake's infamous straightedge scene for a life of art.

Soon after leaving the Salt Lake City scene, as most of Salt Lake's finest knew (but luckily could never prove), Jon became an accomplished artist, displaying much of his artwork uninvitedly around Salt Lake and surrounding cities on rooftops, alleyways and freights passing through the local train yards. This is where Jon teamed up with some of the best artists to come out of grudge city. Carefully studying these new and diverse styles emerging all around him, touring from city to city, Jon picked up numerous styles, lending a heavy influence on his artistic talents.

Eventually Jon decided it was too risky to hang from drain pipes, rusty ladders or pieces of steel pounded into crumbling concrete several stories above the street or jumping freight cars narrowly escaping disaster for a bit of "brightly colored fame". It just wasn't worth it anymore. That's when his life as an aspiring artist began. He headed to school to learn everything he could about art. And, after way too much schooling, Jon had earned a reputation as an accomplished illustrator and an award winning graphics artist, working for some of the best companies in Utah, all the while searching for what he considered the ideal person to teach him the craft of tattooing.

After years of searching, and finally moving to Las Vegas, Jon found the perfect artist to finish teaching him the secretive craft of tattooing.Mike Fatutoa, a tofunga, or Samoan Tattoo artist, began teaching Jon the secrets of modern tattooing and shared much of his knowledge of the ancient craft and artwork of the Tatau, the original form of tribal tattooing dating back centuries in many polynesian cultures. After his apprenticeship and several years tattooing, Jon set out on his own and now specializes in this ancient art-form using modern methods, colors and techniques focusing on everything from traditional freehand polynesian and modern tribal artwork to brightly colored new-school and graffiti influenced tattoos with a flair for just about everything between.

So, if you're looking for a great tattoo; if you're looking for Polynesian Tribal, New School with bright flowing colors or Traditional Black and Grey or Color Tattoos, Jon can help create the perfect tattoo for you and keep it within your budget! Jon has the best prices for the quality of work in town, guaranteed!
